Groundlings to create digital shorts
West Hollywood improv troupe the Groundlings is expanding their sketch comedy with digital shorts, says Variety. Financed and distributed by Sony, the deal will allow the group to create 50 three- to five-minute shorts over a one-year period. Groundlings is known for introducing such performers as Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow and Paul “Pee-wee Herman” Reubens.
Jorma Taccone to play Cha-ka in Lost
JoBlo has discovered that Hot Rod and Saturday Night Live star Jorma Taccone will play “simian-like cavemen guide” Cha-ka in director Brad Silberling’s big screen adaptation of Land of the Lost. Other members of the film’s cast include Will Ferrell, Danny McBride and Anna Friel.
Ferrell on Land of the Lost, Old School Dos, Elf 2, Dunces
In a two-part piece with Ain’t It Cool News, Will Ferrell gives updates on where things stand with Land of the Lost, Old School Dos, Elf 2 and A Confederacy of Dunces. Basically, the School and Elf sequels - particularly the latter one - and Dunces appear to be dead. As for Lost, Ferrell notes that the project will be PG-13, although toeing close to R-rated territory.

The trailer for director Adam McKay’s Step Brothers is now available to view at Yahoo! Movies, while the official teaser site for the comedy has arrived. Starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and produced by Judd Apatow, the feature will hit cinemas nationwide on July 25, 2008.
