Terminator goes PG-13
According to Variety, producers at the Halcyon Co. are aiming for a PG-13 rating with Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. The previous three installments in the film franchise are rated R. Nonetheless, the producers believe the PG-13 rating won’t compromise the grittiness of the series. “The ratings have changed,” comments Halcyon co-founder and co-CEO Victor Kubicek, a broker-turned-writer-producer. “The PG-13 has increased in intensity.” As the article points out, the rating has expanded the licensing opportunities for Terminator Salvation, including a deal for action figures from Playmates Toys.
UPDATED: Terminator 4 shut down?
UGO spreads the word that Terminator 4 may have been shut down. A reason for the production’s possible cancellation has yet to be given. Directed by McG, Terminator 4 was going to feature Christian Bale as John Connor, Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese and Avatar’s Sam Worthington.
UPDATE: It appears that Terminator 4 has not been shut down. First dismantling rumors of the film’s demise was the report that Moon Bloodgood (NBC’s Journeyman) had been cast as the movie’s female lead.
Now, a source indicates to Conversational Ball that production on Terminator 4 is indeed still going strong, as the picture is currently filming.

Cinema Blend has the scoop regarding the plot for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. The site’s source states that Kyle Reese, to be played by Anton Yelchin, will be the central character of the new Terminator films. “Just like the Star Wars prequels when it was the relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan that drove the three films, that’s the concept for the new Terminator films when its between the relationship of Kyle and John, who is really father and son but with the moral dilemma with John knowing what has to be done in order for him to be born,” the source elaborates.
In addition, the report includes the info that the new Terminator movies “will also address the terminators and their evolution including the terminators of the first three films” and may feature direct connections to the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series.

In a video interview with TheStream.tv, makeup artist Jeff Dawn noted that, after working on the first three films in the franchise, he will not be involved with the tentatively-titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Nonetheless, Dawn confirmed that Stan Winston, who was also involved with the first Terminator trilogy, will return for the fourth installment.
Haggis, Yelchin find Salvation
Anton Yelchin will play Kyle Reese in director McG’s tentatively-titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, broadcasts The Hollywood Reporter. Yelchin will play the teenage version of Reese, portrayed by Michael Biehn in the first Terminator. In related news, Paul Haggis has been approached to work on the screenplay for Terminator Salvation.
