Screenplay for Gladiator sequel gets reviewed
Gone Elsewhere takes a look at the Nick Cave (The Proposition) screenplay for a Gladiator sequel. The script and its author were praised by Russell Crowe, who commented, “He’s an excellent writer, man. Nick did this draft and Ridley and I considered it for a while.” As for Gone Elsewhere, the site’s verdict on the script is, “So wrong, yet so right. I love it as a standalone screenplay but hate it as a sequel to Gladiator.”
Ingelsby sets bar high with Low
Variety notices the remarkable transition in the life of Brad Ingelsby. The 27-year old began last week as an insurance salesman who lives with his parents, but became a rich screenwriter by Thursday. Outbidding four studios, Relativity Media gave $650,000 against $1.1 million for Ingelsby’s The Low Dweller, described as “a dark drama set in 1986 in Indiana.” Ridley Scott will helm the pic, with Leonardo DiCaprio starring in it.
Andromeda Strain trailer now online
A longform trailer for the latest adaptation of The Andromeda Strain is now available to view at the project’s official site. Produced by Ridley and Tony Scott and directed by Mikael Salomon, the miniseries stars Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack, Christa Miller, Ricky Schroder and Andre Braugher. Andromeda Strain is expected to air on A&E this May.
