Eric Tan unveils Raiders artwork


As noticed by /Film, artist Eric Tan has crafted an exciting poster for Raiders of the Lost Ark, inspired by a retro propaganda style. For $150, one may own this beautiful piece of artwork, presented by Indiana Jones Shop as part of a new series of limited edition fine art lithographs by Acme Archives. “My idea here was to create something that looked as if it came out when the movie took place, circa 1936,” elaborates Tan. “I was heavily influenced by Mexican film posters from the 30’s & 40’s. They had that western/dramatic/action feel nailed down.”

Indiana Jones Special Edition DVDs coming in May


New Special Edition DVDs for Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade will be released on May 13. Arriving in time for the May 22 theatrical debut of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the films may be purchased individually or in a box set. Coming Soon has a list of the bonus features to be included with each DVD.

Big Screen Roundup: 2/1/08 Edition



MTV has the third image from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to debut this week. The picture features Jones at the government warehouse from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It appears Disney has big plans to extend its National Treasure franchise. Jim Hill Media suggests that the series could have third and fourth installments, as well as a theme park attraction. Interestingly, the article even offers a possible synopsis for National Treasure 3, which may “send the Gates family off to Easter Island and beyond in search of Atlantis. More importantly, the pure, clean power source that was supposedly lost forever when this ancient civilization sank beneath the sea. Which - were it to be harnessed today - would immediately put an end to global warming. Not to mention making gas and oil obsolete.”

Coming Soon features six video clips from Jumper, hitting theaters on February 14.

The Hollywood Reporter suggests that in selecting a director for The Wolf Man, Universal has narrowed its choices down to Brett Ratner, Frank Darabont, James Mangold and Joe Johnston.

DVDActive has the details on the DVD, Blu-ray and HD DVD releases for I Am Legend. The single disc version of the film will carry four animated comics (Death As a Gift, Isolation, Sacrificing the Few for the Many, and Shelter), and DVD-ROM features. The two-disc edition will contain those extras as well as an alternate theatrical version of the film with a “controversial” ending. The Blu-ray and HD DVD discs will offer the two-disc DVD’s extras.
