Star Trek second season coming to DVD


Paramount Home Entertainment has unveiled the artwork for the 2nd season of the remastered Star Trek: The Original Series, reports DVDActive. Containing eight discs and 26 episodes, the package will be released on August 5. Bonus features for the Star Trek set will include: 9 featurettes, bonus Tribble episodes (Star Trek: The Animated Series “More Tribbles, More Troubles”, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine “Trials and Tribble-ations”), Billy Blackburn’s never before seen on-set home videos, and original preview trailers for every episode.

Paramount chooses Blu-ray


The Hollywood Reporter shows that Paramount Home Entertainment is turning to Blu-ray over HD DVD for its releases. The move means that all six major Hollywood studios have chosen Blu-ray. “We are pleased that the industry is moving to a single high-definition format, as we believe it is in the best interest of the consumer,” Paramount expressed via a statement to the Reporter. “As we look to (begin) releasing our titles on Blu-ray, we will monitor consumer adoption and determine our release plans accordingly.”
