Downey Jr. readying for Iron Man 2
IESB.net has learned from Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man trainer, Brad Bose, that the actor is about to start training for Iron Man 2. The training will take approximately five months, as it appears production on the sequel will begin in early 2009. With Iron Man having already accumulated over $104 million at the domestic box office, Paramount and Marvel are seemingly eager for the second film in the franchise.
Fourth Mission possible?
Life & Style Magazine via SlashFilm indicates that Tom Cruise is ready for a fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. “Tom will make M:I-4 once Paramount greenlights the script. There will most definitely be another Mission: Impossible!” an insider tells the magazine.
Without a Paddle 2 going directly to video
Paramount is preparing Without a Paddle 2, according to Moviehole. The direct-to-video feature will have little to do with its predecessor, which starred Seth Green, Dax Shepard and Matthew Lillard. “Instead, it fixes on a character named Zach, who promises an old dying woman that he’ll track down her long-lost granddaughter so they can unite before the woman fades away. He, and two others (Nigel and Ben) head off in search of the lost girl – and get up to all-the-expected hijinks along the way.”

Opening in theaters this weekend is the horror flick The Ruins. Courtesy of Paramount Pictures, Conversational Ball presents five video clips and two interviews for the feature.
Friday the 13th lucky for Padalecki
Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to headline the Friday the 13th remake that Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line and Paramount. His character will investigate what happened up at Crystal Lake. To be directed by Marcus Nispel, the latest draft for Friday the 13th was penned by Shannon and Mark Swift. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing the picture. The Hollywood Reporter has the story.
Monahan pens Paramount Playboy pic
William Monahan will write a fact-based thriller for Paramount, broadcasts Variety. The feature is inspired by an article that will run in Playboy later this year. “It’s the story of a drug dealer who traded a prison sentence to go undercover at a maximum security hospital for the criminally insane, where he tried to get a serial killer to divulge the whereabouts of his victims.” The untitled film will be produced by Graham King and Alexandra Milchan, with Joel Gotler executive producing.
Tropic Thunder trailer hits web
The trailer for Tropic Thunder is now available to view at the comedy’s official website and Yahoo! Movies. Directed by Ben Stiller, the DreamWorks/Paramount picture stars Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Nick Nolte, Danny McBride, Brandon Jackson and Jay Baruchel. Thunder will sound in theaters on August 15.
Rosemary’s Baby to be born again?
Shock Till You Drop has discovered that Ira Levin’s 1967 horror novel Rosemary’s Baby may soon be adapted once more for the big screen. It seems Platinum Dunes is in talks with Paramount about the project, with producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form currently looking for at least one writer to take on the material.
