Constructicons to appear in Transformers 2

Variety spreads the word that Amanda Righetti is in final negotiations to be the female lead in the remake of Friday the 13th. The actress’ credits include Return to House on Haunted Hill and a recurring guest spot on K-Ville. The Michael Bay-produced Friday the 13th will be directed by Marcus Nispel.

Friday the 13th lucky for Padalecki


Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to headline the Friday the 13th remake that Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line and Paramount. His character will investigate what happened up at Crystal Lake. To be directed by Marcus Nispel, the latest draft for Friday the 13th was penned by Shannon and Mark Swift. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing the picture. The Hollywood Reporter has the story.

Unborn cast announced for Rogue thriller


According to The Hollywood Reporter, Meagan Good, Carla Gugino, Jane Alexander, Idris Elba and Rhys Coiro have joined Gary Oldman and Odette Yustman for Rogue Pictures’ Unborn. Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing the supernatural thriller from writer-director David Goyer. Unborn is the “tale of a girl (Yustman) tormented by the soul of a boy who died in the Holocaust.”

Is Rosenbaum the next Freddy Krueger?


A lunch between Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum and Michael Bay has begun speculation as to what the two were discussing. Cinema Blend believes that the topic of their conversation was the upcoming reboot to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, with Rosenbaum possibly taking over the role of horror icon Freddy Krueger.

Variety reports Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are re-launching the Nightmare Before Elm Street franchise for New Line. A writer has yet to be assigned to the latest Freddy Krueger picture.

Mark Romanek is no longer directing The Wolf Man due to creative differences, writes Variety. Universal Pictures’ response is that Romanek left the project in strong shape, with a new director to be quickly found.

Director D.J. Caruso tells USA Today that plans have changed for the film adaptation of the comic series Y: The Last Man. Whereas the film was originally going to cover the entire graphic novel series, it will now only focus on the first 14 issues, making room for a possible trilogy of movies.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned Case 39 director Christian Alvart is gearing up to helm Pandorum with Constantin Film and Impact Pictures. The movie will tell the story of “a young crew member who awakes from his hyper sleep chamber to discover he’s alone on a massive spaceship. He ventures towards the bridge in search of others and to try and figure out what happened.”

Julianne Moore is set to star in Shelter, a supernatural horror thriller produced by Nala Films, informs Variety. Based on a script by Michael Cooney (Identity), the flick will be directed by the Swedish duo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Storm).

Coming Soon indicates that Punisher: War Zone director Lexi Alexander has provided an update on how the action flick is going at her official website. The report includes three new shots of Ray Stevenson as The Punisher.
