Speed Racer mockumentary hits Target
SCI FI Wire has learned via Speed Racer producer Joel Silver that Target stores will sell a 20-minute documentary focusing on the characters in the Wachowski brothers’ film. Silver explains, “It’s a 20-minute documentary about the Racer family, with all the cast as the characters, not as the actors. It’s a mockumentary, and it’s great. And that’ll be lengthened for the DVD.”
Ricci ready for Speed Racer sequel
Christina Ricci tells Coming Soon that she is ready for a second Speed Racer flick. “Larry and Andy [Wachowski] created a world that they love and created characters that they loved and are attached to. When we were all leaving, we were like ‘write the sequel!’ ‘We want to come back.’ And they were like, ‘I know. I know. We’re going to. Don’t worry,’” says Ricci, who plays Trixie, Speed’s girlfriend in the picture.
Chou takes on Ninja Assassin
SCI FI Wire recently chatted with Collin Chou, who confirmed that he will act as one of the four leads in a new fantasy from Matrix creators Larry and Andy Wachowski. For the film, the Wachowski duo will produce but not direct. While Chou could not admit the title of the picture, its name is reportedly Ninja Assassin.

Yahoo! Movies screens the domestic full trailer for the live-action/CGI flick Speed Racer. Directed by Andy and Larry Wachowski, the picture stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox. Look for Speed Racer to hit theaters on May 9.
Speed Racer racing into IMAX theaters
IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced that Speed Racer will be simultaneously released to IMAX and conventional theatres on May 9, 2008. Coming Soon has the press release for this revelation regarding the anticipated action flick from Andy and Larry Wachowski.
